Family Caregiver Wellness Virtual Event On November 17/18, in collaboration with Caregivers Alberta, Norquest College had a virtual event for family caregivers and organizations that support family caregivers to provide awareness for this role, as well as education and resources for family caregivers to turn to. We were so happy with the event (aside from a few tech hiccups) as we had 89 and 52 people attend our November 17th and 18th virtual event and wonderful feedback. ESC and other agencies are aware that this year, more seniors will be alone during the holidays because of COVID-19. The restrictions are to keep you safe so you have more holidays to celebrate with family and friends when this is over. But, we are now paperless due to COVID, so we cannot take cash or cheques. We cannot get to our mail, because of the situation at the General. So you must have a valid credit card or VISA debit to register and you must create an account with Edmonton Seniors Centre so that your name, address and phone number can be given to the driver who will deliver you meal. ESC has a surprise for you! Boxing Day Lunch is still on! It isn't going to look the way it has in the past. As you all know, the Edmonton General cannot allow us to gather 100 people into the dining room to eat and laugh together, but that isn't stopping ESC and its partners from bringing you a special turkey lunch with all the holiday trimmings on Boxing Day, Saturday, December 26th, between 11 am and 1pm. Your meal will be cooked by West End Seniors Activity Centre Chef. It will be delivered to you by Drive Happiness -- there is no cost to you for this delivery. As our members know, we serve the residents at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre. Each resident there has a membership to the Edmonton Seniors Centre. They are people we love and care deeply about. It is with great sadness as our hearts go to the the family and friends of the residents there.
