ARE YOU ALONE AT CHRISTMAS?

​ESC and other agencies are aware that this year, more seniors will be alone during the holidays because of COVID-19. The restrictions are to keep you safe so you have more holidays to celebrate with family and friends when this is over.  But, we are now paperless due to COVID, so we cannot take cash or cheques. We cannot get to our mail, because of the situation at the General. So you must have a valid credit card or VISA debit to register and you must create an account with Edmonton Seniors Centre so that your name, address and phone number can be given to the driver who will deliver you meal.

As many of you know, we’ve gathered in the past at ESC to celebrate Boxing Day with a holiday meal. This year that is not possible. BUT… never fear, we have found another way to bring you a lovely Boxing Day Turkey meal, delivered to your door for only 5 dollars.

For that five dollars you will receive:

  • A holiday mean: 7 oz of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, a vegetable, and a slice of pumpkin pie, delivered to your door on Boxing Day between 11 am and 1 pm by Drive Happiness.  There is no charge to you for delivery.
  • A frozen soup that has two meals worth of soup that you can eat during the next week
  • A holiday greeting 

There is a limit to the number of tickets you can buy because the program this year is aimed at seniors who are alone or with just one other person during the holiday season. Priority goes to those who are alone, followed by two people who are together. I’m sure you all understand that reaching out to those that COVID has isolated from family and friends is a top priority.

When the meal is delivered it will be between 11 am and 1pm. You’ll need to heat it up. Gravy, Cranberry sauce, and pie will be in separate containers.
