We had a senior die last week. We might have been able to save him but it took us 36 hours to find him, a lot of detective work by people who cared and didn’t give up trying, and police involvement.
Why? Because the senior moved six months ago and didn’t update his profile to tell us his new address, so when he collapsed during a Zoom meeting, the instructor, once they realized they had the old address on the roster, called us immediately, as is our policy. But because this person had not updated us with either their current address nor their emergency contact information, we could not get them the kind of immediate help they needed.
The moral of the tale? Please update all your information online in your profile. Your life may depend on it.
The staff and the members of the group they were involved in are heartbroken. We care about the people we serve. Unfortunately, we are not mind readers and don’t know when you move or when your emergency contact information has changed.
If you need help to update, you can always call or email us. Please, don’t put yourself at risk. We wouldn’t ask for your information if it weren’t critical to your health and wellbeing.
