Focus Group Volunteers

ESC has received a grant, along with the YEG Seniors Alliance, from the Edmonton Foundation to create training modules and plain language content explaining fraud and fraud prevention. We need another focus group that will work with the writing team to see if the step by step plain language explanations are workable and easy to understand. So often internet fraud is written in jargon, with phishing, refreshing, hovering, catfishing, etc. used to explain what a fraud is and how to prevent it. In our initial focus group, we heard from seniors who had been frustrated with the way fraud prevention classes had gone about explaining internet security and self protection. “Nyonya cooking made easy” with Willie Wong

I bet you didn't know that Willie Wong, apart from being a great artist and teacher can cook! Have a look at his new Saturday afternoon class. These classes will begin in March. Check the website for dates. To register for the class go here: Courses Twice a month in March and April, Willie will be teaching Malaysian cooking, Nyonya style. This a an unique meals which was created after the colonialism in Malaysia. A blend of Chinese, Indonesian. Malay and Indian cuisine.    All ingredients are available at either superstore or T&T grocery stores on Calgary trail. You'll be sent the shopping list before each session.    The classes will be on two Saturdays from 4 to 6pm, just in time for supper!

ESC has a phone calling system that can connect you with another person at least once a week. You can become a volunteer with or a participant in our calling pods. Send an email to office@edmontonseniorscentre.ca if you are a senior (55+) looking for connection. If you are someone who wishes to volunteer, go to our website and fil out the forms there. Annual General Meeting
