Experts say laboratories have struggled to gather enough data on influenza which could lead to vaccines being mismatched to the virus - and health services being overwhelmed by cases this winter.

Aging in place means having access to services, and health and social supports, to live and grow older in one’s home and community, safely and well. Surveys tell us that overwhelmingly, seniors want to age in place; seniors want to age in community. Accessible transportation is important for aging in place/community. For Edmonton seniors, what are current transportation barriers? As Mayor, how do you plan to deal with these challenges/barriers?Current: Right now, there are several transportation barriers that face seniors in Edmonton. From a lack of bus service in certain nieghbourhoods to improperly cleared sidewalks in the winter time. My mother recently moved downtown to a seniors facility and I witness the struggles some have to even cross the busy street before the light turns green. Our city hasn't prioritized development of infrastructure with an inclusive…
What a wonderful turn out of seniors for the forum. Between all the streaming services running, the Webinar itself and seniors' residences that streamed the service we had 509 viewers. There are still a few streaming places that haven't reported but the number of seniors who participated is grand. While we wished we could include all the candidates, time wouldn't allow, so we took the top four from our poll and one of the candidates turned us down, Mr. Nickel. But he did send a video that we played right after the forum and which we will continue to run on ESCTV, which you can find on our homepage of the website. If you'd like to see the recording of the forum on demand, you can find it on our YouTube Channel. Any written…

Alberta reports 501 new COVID-19 cases, highest ICU count in nearly a month according to CTV News. As pf Wednesday of this week, Alberta reported 501 new cases, as active cases rose for a 25th consecutive day, up to 3,769. This is within a few cases of being as high a count of active cases as we had in second week of June. The best thing you and your friends and neighbours can do is get vaccinated. This pandemic is now taking the lives of the unvaccinated. Only 67.2% of Albertans have received two doses of the vaccine. We need as close to 100% as we can get to protect the very few people who can't have the vaccine due to medical complications. The only way to keep the virus from mutating is to…
