New U of A Study Seeking Seniors

Do You Want to Participate in a Hearing Study?

A hearing research team based in the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine is now recruiting participants for a study about your experiences using a newly designed online hearing screening tool.

Study Title: Online Hearing Activity – User Experience Study

Purpose: Hearing care professionals are interested in developing user-friendly online tools that allow Canadians to learn more about their hearing without having to travel to a clinic. This study will involve completing an online hearing activity that features techniques similar to those used in clinical tests. Our research team is working to develop and improve this online tool. Your help makes this possible! Please note that the activity you will complete is not a clinically validated test, and will not report a result on your hearing performance.

We are looking for: Adults aged 40 and over.

How much time? The study will take about 10-15 minutes to complete

What will I do? You will complete a short activity that involves identifying numbers against competing background noise and typing the numbers you hear

Potential benefits of participating: A better understanding of your own hearing and new technologies used to test hearing
